What does the Forest Stewardship Council TM (FSC®) certification do?
This incentive brings direct benefits to the forest, such as protecting biodiversity and areas of significant environmental importance. FSC® provides a connection between the forest and the end user, ensuring that products with the FSC® label uphold principles and criteria which bring the highest environmental benefits.
By working to promote environmental forest management, FSC® helps both local communities and society at large to enjoy long-term benefits of managing forests in a responsible way. As the world's most respected forest certification scheme, FSC® is a global system with certificates issued in all forest types around the world.
SFI® Inc. is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for maintaining, overseeing and improving a sustainable forestry certification program that is internationally recognized and is the largest single forest standard in the world.
The SFI® Standard is based on principles and measures that promote sustainable forest management and consider all forest values. It includes unique fiber sourcing requirements to promote responsible forest management on all forest lands in North America.
SFI® certification also extends to the market. When they see the SFI® label on a product, consumers can be confident they are buying wood or paper from certified forests or certified sourcing.
Only SFI® certificate holders have permission to utilize the SFI® logo on printed pieces that meet SFI® standards.
ISO is a set of standards that help companies achieve cost effective operational processes and standardize quality assurance methods.
ISO implementation and standard practices improve operating procedures and reduce cost. ISO 9001 is the international standard for quality management. The formal name of this program is ISO 9001:2008. The aim of ISO 9001 is to assure that an organization continually improves performance and consistently meets customer needs, and to satitisfy the demands of current or prospective customers for registration.
- Improves customer focus
- Boost international acceptance and credibility
- Places you in an elite category of businesses
- Facilitates continual improvement
- Provides competitive advantage
cGMP refers to the Current Good Manufacturing Practice regulations enforced by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
cGMPs provide for systems that assure proper design, monitoring, and control of manufacturing processes and facilities. Adherence to the cGMP regulations assures quality by requiring that manufacturers of drug related printing adequately control manufacturing operations. This includes establishing strong quality management systems, obtaining appropriate quality raw materials, establishing robust operating procedures, detecting and investigating product quality deviations. This formal system of controls, if adequately put into practice, helps to prevent instances of, mix-ups, deviations, failures, and errors. This assures that drug related print products meet their quality standards.
The G7® process is a methodology developed by IDEAlliance, that is a Proof-to-Print validation.
The G7® certification requires new equipment and extensive technical training for an organization's technical operators. This methodology is specifically designed for the print industry and works in the same way as ISO (International Organization for Standardization) Standards. The G7® Master Printer program requires a continuing audit process of press color measurement equipment, process control procedures and quality of printing.
The G7® methodology calibrates presses and proofing systems by measuring spectral data and using gray balance instead of just dot gain to achieve closer visual match between proof and press.
What does G7® mean to VG Reed & Sons customers?
- There is a level of confidence that exists because of the certification.
- It reduces cost and turn-around times from the built in efficiencies of the quicker make-ready at press.
- Print consistency from initial run to re-prints exists because the printed piece matches the proof.
